In January 2011, DreamWise Marketing Solutions distributed more than 300 beanie hats to individuals throughout the Denver community. We asked recipients to warm hearts and ears by giving the hat to someone who needed it. The following are heart warming stories that recipients have shared with us.
Saul Escala / Escala Family Dentistry
Our hat was given to the gentleman that comes every once in a while to do odd jobs such as shovel snow and pick up trash at the clinic. He was happy!!
Michele Hood / Shalom Park
I gave the hat to our Hospice group to give to a needy hospice patient.
Kate Hunt / The Limb Preservation Foundation
Thank you so much for the hat! I gave the hat to Urban Peak which is an organization that works with homeless and at-risk youth in Denver. Every year we do a warm clothing drive for Urban Peak and I know that this hat will help to keep one of their clients warm. Thank you for the nice though and for supporting Inner City Health!
Lynn Maedel / CACMLE
Every morning on my way to work I drive south down Monaco. And every morning some homeless person is standing at the corner there at Colfax. Last Friday, a younger woman was there with her sign. Fortunately I was stopped at the red light giving me the opportunity to roll down my window and give her the hat. I just said, "This is to help keep your head warm." She replied with a simple "Thank you."

I went to King Soopers last night to pick up groceries. A man asked if he could wash my windows, so of course I said yes, gave him some cash, but gave him the hat as well. Thanks DW!

I received the hat today in the mail and took it to our caterer for our company to give to her son or daughter. She is a single mother of two and is baerly making it. Thank you so much, it feels so good to help out!
Chuck McCoy / Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities
I gathered up the hats and a couple extra gloves from people at the Arvada Center and deliverd them to the Arvada Food bank. They distribute gloves and hats as well as food. That's not an exciting story, but I bet the hats got to the right people.
Erin Haddigan / American Water Works Association
I donated my hat to Goodwill.
Terry Freeman / Water Research Foundation
I have a very close friend whose son is homeless and has many personal and health issues due to the cold. She is not able to do much for him; so, she was so very grateful for the hat. Thank you.
John Kayser / American Water Works Association
I gave my hat to a gentleman at the corner of 8th and Lincoln in Denver. It was a cold morning and I remembered the hat, which I decided to subsidize with a $5 bill. When I handed him both, he smiled one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen. "I can really use that hat," is all he said.
Carolyn Goers / Inner City Health Center
After the last snowfall, a teenager in my neighborhood was shoveling snow to earn money wearing only a baseball cap on his head! He was genuinely thankful to accept the black knit hat!
Matt Chinn / UNISA Inc.
I was fortunate to gift the hat to a co-worker in need. She has recently taken on more responsibility and done a wonderful job with internal and external customers. She loves winter hats and when she received the DreamWise black beenie, her smile was glowing and it truly made her day. It created some extra warmth within our office environment and ultimately the Denver Metro Higher Ed community. Thank you DreamWise!
Kellie Martin / The Print Connection
We gave our hat to goodwill. Thank you.
Cami Cacciatore / Colorado Veterinary Medical Association
I gave my hat to a coworker with two growing grandkids who are always losing their hats and gloves.

What a terrific promotion! I received the hat promo and kept in my office for several weeks, intending to "get to it" at some point. I finally took the time to put the hat in my car, with the intent to get into the spirit and make sure someone down on his/her luck had a warm hat to stave off the winter storms we face in Colorado. One night, I worked late and after a meeting ended at 10:00 p.m., I left during a wet, heavy snow storm. I hit Broadway & Colfax, which was amazingly empty at that time of night. I saw a man who had no hat or gloves and who was obviously quite wet and cold. I can't tell you how nice it was to be able to give this man your hat. I was so in the spirit that I gave him a pair of gloves in my car for emergencies and a couple of bucks for a warm cup of coffee. Thanks for much for bringing the spirit of caring, giving and helping back into our consciousness! It takes so little to show we care about each other, and your movement actually helps!
Stephanie Van Cleve / Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association
I was quite surprised to get such a neat package in the mail that was for a great cause! It just so happened that my colleagues grandson (who's 9 years old) got in a sledding accident that sliced his right ear open pretty badly. Because it's been so cold lately and I knew that he had to have stitches put in, I gave her the hat for him to wear and stay warm. From what I hear, he's doing really well and enjoys the gift. Thanks for this opportunity to give!
Jan Samuelson / Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Explorations
I gave my cap to a little boy standing at the bus stop with his Mom and he was shivering and he had no head covering. He loved it.

Debra Chavez / NFDH
I gave the hat to a teenager that walks everywhere regardless of temperatures. He can't feel the cold and I was always worrying about his ears. Thanks so much.

I decided to give the hat to the Roxborough Clothing Bank. It was the perfect time to donate some coats, scarves and gloves as well for families in need in my neighborhood.

I gave my hat to an older gentleman who lives in a retirement home. He actually sleeps in the hat since he gets very cold at night.

A few weeks ago we found we still had our hat! Lucky for us Colorado weather is fickle, so on a gloomy day my coworker headed down Colfax looking for someone who needed a little extra warmth. He found an older man waiting for the bus and offered him the hat. We hope it brought him some comfort as he waited in the cold. Thanks for this great idea!
